Our work
Restoration on this beautiful period property began early 2012 and was completed in 2014. Wherever possible, all original features were kept and lovingly restored. When restoration was not an option the client along with our help selected products in keeping with the age and look of the property.
Reception and games room
The client was keen to restore the original Mahogany stained blocks, but wasn’t sure it would be possible due to the amount of damage. However, we were able to remove all damaged pieces and replace with new bespoke made blocks, to exactly match the existing floor. The whole floor was then sanded and several finish options were applied for the client to select from. Osmo Satin Natural Hardwax Oil was chosen.
Drawing room
Sitting alongside the reception and games room, the client wanted a floor in keeping with these rooms, but with a softer appearance to give them somewhere to relax. Henham distressed Oak blocks laid in a herringbone pattern and finished with Osmo Satin Hardwax Oil was the perfect choice.
Dining room and orangery
Moyet was selected to give a beautiful contrast to the grey Limestone in the kitchen. With steps leading to the dining room, bespoke step nosing were required. These were made and hand finished to match the flooring and installed to give the perfect finish. With a slight height difference between the dining room and orangery a bespoke profile was created to form an almost seamless transition.
Master bedroom and guest rooms
The time worn softwood floor boards needed restoring with care to ensure the years of footfall was not sanded away entirely. Several light sands and a tradition Beeswax brought these floors back to life without losing their character and charm.
Main bathroom
The client wanted to achieve a modern calm bathroom, but in keeping with the period features. Embla light with its subtle twist on a traditional wood floor achieved this.
